With an impressive professional netball background and striking speed and agility, Kasey Stanaway has been named captain of the 2012 Victorian Fury side.

Stanaway ,a member of the team since its inception in 2008, currently plays in the Devine Victorian Netball League (VNL) for Boroondara Genesis and has been a training partner (2009,2010,2001,2012) and replacement player for the Melbourne Vixens (2011,2012).

Alongside Stanaway, former Melbourne Vixen Kathleen Knott and current Vixen Kara Richards have been appointed as this year’s co-vice captains.

As with Stanaway, Knott has also been a member of Victorian Fury since 2008, and a former Melbourne Vixen from 2009- 2011. She has a highly impressive collection of awards, including Victorian Fury Most Valuable Player for three consecutive years in 2008, 2009 and 2010, as well as claiming the Australian Netball League Play of the Year title in 2009. Knot currently plays for City West Falcons in the VNL.

Richards was part of Fury in 2009, 2010, and now again in 2012. Last year Richards played for the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the ANZ Championships, and was a Melbourne Vixen in 2012 and 2010.

Since 2008, Victorian Fury have won three out of a possible four premierships and are hoping to make amends in 2012 for last year’s nine goal defeat

The Australian Netball League Season commenced on August 3. Fury started the first round with a bye and take on the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) this Friday night at the State Netball Hockey Centre.

We congratulate Kasey Stanaway, Kathleen Knott and Kara Richards on their leadership positions in 2012, and wish Victorian Fury all the best for the upcoming season.
