President Jenny Sanchez and the Board of Netball Victoria are pleased to announce that following a rigorous executive search process, Michelle Plane has been appointed as the new CEO. Michelle will replace Leigh Russell, who led Netball Victoria with distinction and recently resigned following the birth of her third child.
Michelle comes to this role with a very strong background as a CEO and executive leader across a range of organisations and industries in private enterprise, local government and the not-for-profit sector. She is an accomplished leader with deep experience working with communities and groups, and with sound business skills and qualifications including an MBA and training at Stanford University.
Michelle was an appointed director to the Board of Netball Victoria in 2008, recruited for her business skills and governance experience as a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and has been an elected Director for the past two years. She has represented Victoria at national netball strategic forums for 3 years and has a good understanding of the strategic issues and opportunities for netball in Victoria.
“I am incredibly excited and honoured to be joining Netball Victoria in this CEO role” noted Michelle. “I have been involved in sport all my life including in my professional roles in local government, and netball is the most exciting sport, at all levels. I very much look forward to working with the incredible team at Netball Victoria and across the whole family of netball – together we have some great opportunities and a very exciting future in growing and developing netball”.
Michelle will commence in her role in early September.
