PROGRAM INFORMATION

Objectives
The Netball Victoria Zone Academy Program aims to provide a concurrent development opportunity for talented players, coaches, umpires and team managers, which will assist them to reach their potential.

Selection
Netball Victoria conducts a selection day for each Zone Academy at a venue within the Zone. A Zone Academy Screening Day is also conducted each year for those players who, because of extenuating circumstances, were unable to attend their Zone's selection day. These selections are usually held in August, September and October each year.

In December, after Academy selections and screening day and following the announcement of the State 17/U squad, squads of approx. 20-25 players are selected for each Zone Academy and invited to participate in the 10 month (February – November) Zone Academy program for the following year. The squad participates in 8-10 x 3-hour sessions within the Zone, and culminates with the Inter Academy weekend at the State Netball Hockey Centre in October.

All Zone Academy athletes are required to pay an athlete levy of $300 including GST. This levy assists in covering the overall expense of the program including:
  • Specialist skilled based trainings
