Melbourne Vixens Geva Mentor, Sarah Wall, Bianca Chatfield, Kate Beveridge, Julie Corletto and Tegan Caldwell, along with Netball Victoria’s Community Participation team will visit selected schools and community locations in the Bendigo region. The athletes will meet the local community, sign autographs and be available for photos. |

The City of Greater Bendigo will be hosting the official Welcome Function for the Central Victorian Netball Festival at the majestic Bendigo Town Hall. This function is by invitation only.

7:30pm V/Line Life Training Workshop |
The V/Line Life Training workshop is all about sharing tips to help young people rise to the challenges that are thrown at them. Topics such as body image and self-esteem are also covered. CELEBRATING WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP BREAKFAST |
Australia’s greatest ever Goal Attack and mum-to-be, Sharelle McMahon, will be guest speaker at this unique event held at the iconic Shamrock Hotel in Bendigo. Sharelle's former team mate, Australian netball legend and successful businesswoman Liz Ellis with also speak about her journey at the event. Sharelle, Liz and MC Margaret O’Rourke, will talk about their fabulous careers and share their insights on leadership and the crucial role women play in our community.

VICTORIAN NETBALL LEAGUE ROUND SIX GAMES |
Australia’s best domestic netball league will be showcased when Round six of the Victorian Netball League comes to Bendigo as part of the Central Victorian Netball Festival. VU Western Lightning, and their large Bendigo based contingent of athletes, take on the Southern Saints in all three divisions of competition – 19/Under, Division 1 and Championship. The Championship Division game will be the official curtain raiser of the Vixens vs Thunderbirds game.

MELBOURNE VIXENS vs ADELAIDE THUNDERBIRDS |
In their final hit out before the official start of their 2012 season, the Melbourne Vixens take on the visiting Adelaide Thunderbirds in the showcase game at Bendigo Stadium. This final practice match of the pre-season campaign for both teams will give the Bendigo community a chance to see both teams at their very best. To add to the local flavour, both teams feature athletes born and raised in North Central Victoria.

COMMUNITY NETBALL CLINIC WITH MELBOURNE VIXENS PLAYERS |
On Sunday morning, Bendigo’s budding netballers have the rare chance to receive personal coaching from their heroes when Melbourne Vixens and VU Western Lightning athletes run a Community Netball Clinic at the Golden City Netball Association courts. This three hour clinic provides participants with the opportunity to be directly coached by some of Australia’s best in each position – a once in a lifetime opportunity!

COACH DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP
“CONVERTING YOUR CENTRE PASS ON TO THE SCOREBOARD” |
Melbourne Vixens coaches Julie Hoornweg and Eloise Southby-Halbish will run a workshop for Bendigo’s coaching community on Sunday morning. This unique opportunity to hear from two of Australia’s most accomplished netball names is not to be missed. This workshop will focus on providing the coaches with insights into attacking strategies off your centre pass to maximise scoring opportunities.

UMPIRE DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP |
Umpires officiating in Saturday night’s Vixens vs Thunderbirds game will stay in town to address Bendigo’s umpiring community on Sunday morning, when AA umpires Marc Henning and Rachael Richards touch base with the region’s developing netball officials. Rarely do netball’s most experienced umpires get the chance to pass their knowledge on to their less experienced counterparts, so this workshop designed to assist umpires to fast track their development should not be missed!
